Desired Character: Gilbert Grape
Movie(s) in which your character appears: What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Description of character: Gilbert has to be responsible for his mentally challenged brother, Arnie, seeing as his mother isn't capable to anymore. He loves Arnie, but he would like a life of his own, but his task to take care of his brother is too demanding. Gilbert also works at a grocery store, but a new Foodland has opened up, threatening the small business. With all that, Gilbert tries to handle the situation as best as he can. He also has to care for his mother with the help of his sister, Amy, but his other sister Ellen can be rather difficult at times, which doesn't help Gilbert at all. Gilbert has a lot of patience with his family though, and can often do things right, but does tend to make a few mistakes that sometimes turn disastrous.
RP Sample: Gilbert was in the grocery store, pricing goods and trying to stay focused on his job, but his mind kept wandering. He could feel himself getting irritated with his life, but instantly felt guilty. Nothing seemed to go right for Gilbert and it frustrated him, he wished he could be a good person, but it seemed so impossible. Gilbert was surprised he still tried, although he knew he'd never give up on his family, no matter what.
'It's not Arnie's or mamma's fault things have turned out like this,' Gilbert told himself. But he felt like someone was to blame for their misfortune, and it certaintly wouldn't be him. He then snapped to attention after hearing the shop door open, hoping not to see a Foodland bag in their hands.
