This was far from what he was used to. His life, even when alone, always seemed to have some sort of cheerful, or at least hopeful, air to it. His home had been dark, but it never had a feeling of... evil.
This town felt evil to Edward. The people did not have friendly looks. The houses looked unhappy. Fear was in the air. Edward found himself terrified. He knew not what to do, except continue on down the gray road.
BANG! A door slammed. BANG! That one was a window. The distrust and fear heightened among the inhabitants of this village the deeper within Edward got. There were obviously problems here and, without ever having tried to get to know him, everyone seemed to have already placed blame on the the scissor-handed youth.

Betelgeuse leaned against a pillar holding up the roof to a bridge. He loved being feared, but not when he had no idea why those around him feared him. He stood still staring almost accusingly into the town. Suddenly he spotted a shadow. It was a young man with hands like blades. He seemed almost as lost as Betelgeuse.
With pent up energy and a curiosity that could kill way more then the cat, Betelgeuse set out to talk to this person. He obviously didn't fit in here but maybe he had some answers. Betelgeuse jumped right in front of him, only the way that he knew how.
"Hiya," He said.

Startled, Edward jumped back a bit after receiving the shock of being directly acknowledge. His finger-like blades flitted ever so slightly when they went up to his face, a cautionary action in hopes of being defended in such an unfamiliar area filled with unfamiliar individuals. Unfortunately, all this managed to do was nick him slightly on his own cheek.
After this initial reaction, Edward lowered his hands ever so slightly to take in what he was seeing before him- a monstrous looking man in a suit. Perhaps letting his guard down, even if only slightly and for a moment, wasn't such a good idea. Despite this fact, he decided that ignoring the man couldn't help him, so speaking to him was his only other option.
"Hi," he let out meekly, not knowing how else to respond. Conversation starters weren't exactly his strong point.

Betelgeuse didn't think twice about this strange man's reaction, at least not at first. He was obviously frightened by the ghost with the most, but yet something seemed odd. Betelgeuse found no joy scaring this live one, he felt as if this man was too scared... too confused... like a child.
Scrapping his initial plan to scare the pants off blade hands and get some answers Betelgeuse relaxed. Instead of being lost in this strange place he oddly felt the need control the situation as if protecting this... this... whatever he was.
Betelgeuse shook the thought as to hide his abnormal feedings and keep up his rugged exterior. Still, he would take it easy on the boy.
"So," he said in a raspy voice, "I seem to have gotten myself turned around." He let out a boisterous chuckle that still seemed to show his uncertainty. "Where am I?"

Blinking for a moment, as if trying to process the situation in front of him, Edward realized that the man did not wish him any harm. He was just asking him a question. However, Edward wasn't so sure he knew where to find the answer.
He glanced up. He looked down. He checked things out all around. Everywhere he looked, it was unfamiliar territory. This was why the best he could do was simply look back to the man in the suit with a meek expression. The answer was not available to him and he knew not where else he could look.

Betelgeuse watched as this confused young man tried to process information, but he didn't answer. He didn't say anything! All he did was stare straight back at Betelgeuse. Unsure on how to handle the situation, Betelgeuse waited for a moment hoping the young man would give him some sort of help... but help didn't come.
Angry but trying to hide it Betelgeuse said, "Do you live around here? How did you get here?" He grunted while he observed his surroundings.

Edward saw some of the frustration in the man's face, but it didn't seem bad. He'd seen Peg at her worst and that... actually wasn't too bad. This man had greater capability for anger, surely, but it wasn't bad enough to cause worry. This was why Edward then chose to respond to the asker's first question with a quick shake of the head. To the second, he simply replied, "I'm lost." "Hey! What're you lot doing out in the streets at this hour! You better not be here to cause trouble!" a man called out as he, somewhat cautiously, charged the strange visitors.Slight panic began to overtake Edward. His blades flitted about as he took gradual steps backward. He didn't know where to go, but this was some dangerous anger. This was anger he most certainly did not know how to handle. Hopefully his new... friend, maybe he could call him... would find a way to end the trouble with this new intruder. OOC: Feel free to godmod my stranger danger. I felt we needed some sort of conflict

"Lost?" Betelgeuse replied. Great! But before he could respond a man began yelling at them. He wasn't sure if it was because this bladed kid seemed so harmless or if it was because he seemed outcast, much like Betelgeuse himself, that made him want to sort of protect him. Betelgeuse noticed him backing up and he didn't like it one bit. The boy was obviously scared.
Betelgeuse winked at the boy, then straightened up from his slump posture and began walking toward this man.
"Hey! Do we look like a couple-a people that'd start trouble?" He sneered.
OOC: I aint got nothin for him now lol. I'm good at playing BJ but not at responding to him.

"Actually, that's exactly what you look like! We don't need any more of that around here, either," the man retorted as he gained confidence to fully approach the two strange men.
Edward was worried about how this man so clearly did not trust him, but the suited man seemed not to care. Perhaps this new friend could do something to get them out of this place with such unfriendly people. Perhaps he could even find some friendly people within this place. At that thought, Edward gained the slightest bit of confidence and stepped forward to join his companion in defending themselves. He didn't know what to say, but he could show enough confidence to let the man know that he wouldn't be pushed around.
The man snarled at the few steps forward the bladed youth took. The guy was armed and dangerous and didn't seem like he'd go away as easily as he'd hoped, especially not with this friend around. Luckily, he had something in his pocket that could possibly help change their minds. He inwardly grinned as he felt the weight of the pistol in his jacket.
"I'm only gonna say this once, so listen close: Get out."

Post by Katrina Van Tassel on Jan 30, 2011 2:16:39 GMT -5
Katrina glided down the main street of Sleepy Hollow. It was a regular day in town, foggy and dreary. The young blond was making her way towards the woods, to her secret place with the archer. She had a lot on her mind and just wanted to spend sometime with her thoughts and a very interesting book about magic.
She could never let anyone know that she found these things interesting, she'd be thought a witch and the consequences of this was not something she wanted to think even think about.
As Katrina made her way towards the edge of town she saw the most peculiar site, even for Sleepy Hollow. There seemed to be a man whose hands were made from steel blades, and another man that could only be described as..rotting?
She saw that Gregory, the local blacksmith, was giving these two strangers a not so welcoming introduction to Sleepy Hollow. Katrina of course did not know these men, but she did not feel threatened as she approached. Katrina decided to help and try to diffuse the situation, she knew Gregory, and although he put on a good show, she knew he was as harmless as a field mouse.
"Good afternoon, Gregory. I see you have found some visitors to our fine village. Do you mind introducing me to these gentlemen?"
Katrina smiled over to the visitors, and then turned expectantly over to the theatrical villager.

A girl had come over, and a nice one, at that. This lessened the severity of the worry that had overtaken Edward all the more. He had a scary looking friend and, perhaps soon, he'd have a kind-looking one.
"Miss Van Tassel, I was just letting these intruders know that we don't want any trouble. They don't look too friendly to me; do they to you?" Gregory responded to the young woman, feeling slightly trapped, but still feeling he had a justifiable defense.
"I'm friendly," Edward piped in. He didn't typically mind being talked about, but the man made it sound like Edward was full of malice or something of the like, which was far from the truth. He didn't care for this to continue, so he answered the man. The girl with such soft eyes might understand. She might lead him and help him. She seemed the type that could explain where they were and what was going on. This dreary village wasn't the best place to wander, so any way to bring back safety and joy to his day would be appreciated. Edward was sure his new suited friend would feel the same.
Sighing and rolling his eyes, Gregory brushed aside the bladed young man's retort, as it was truly of no consequence. The girl with propriety on her side and the angry looking man were the only ones worth taking seriously here.

Katrina felt saddened by Gregory's immediate distaste for the newcomers. However, her smile never wavered.
This town can be so small minded sometimes. They condemn that in which they do not understand, and they do not like those who they believe to be meddling outsiders, like Mr. Ichabod.
Katrina turned her focus to the two new gentlemen. The yellow haired lady knew better than to judge strangers so quickly, and she had a calming feeling from the young man with bladed hands. The other gentleman she wasn't too sure about being kind, but she didn't scare easily.
"Gregory, I do not sense the least bit of trouble making from these two gentlemen. I believe you are too quick to judge outsiders. Hello, my name is Katrina Van Tassel, you may call me Katrina."
Katrina gave a small, expecting smile.
"You may return home Gregory, unless you would like to be my escort with my our newly acquainted visitors?"

Betelgeuse stared at the woman. She seemed kind, pure, like everything he was not. Watching the bickering back and forth he decided to remain silent. After all, he didn't even know where he was. When his young friend spoke up he caught quite a shock. He half expected him to not speak english after all that has been said was hi.
Happy for the young man, and obviously himself, that this woman had come to save them he stepped to her, completely ignoring the rude man.
"Hiya," he spoke.

Taken aback by Miss Van Tassel's willingness to accept the newcomers, Gregory lost the desire to push the matter any further. He had never taken much of a liking to the young girl, but due to society's requirements he had been forced to show her respect. Due to the combination of these factors, he figured there was little point in his continued presence.
"Well, if you feel as if you can trust these men, then I suppose I'll be on my way. However," he then turned to the strangers," know that I, along with the rest of the village, can be summoned at any time to come to Miss Van Tassel's aid. That should make you aware of how foolish it would be for you to start up any trouble."
On that note, Gregory then left the group.
Gregory had not been kind, so Edward was quite glad to see him leave. This girl, Katrina, she had called herself, was good company, and his other new friend also seemed to accept her. Based on this, Edward found it to be an appropriate time to smile widely, though still close-lipped. He looked round toward the other two, showing off his less frightened and more gleeful expression. Snipping his bladed fingers around slightly by his sides in anticipation, he looked expectantly toward the new hostess.

Betelgeuse was at a loss for words. The man left and he didn't even need to use any scare tactics. This was a first. He observed the young man's actions and too felt like there was nothing else to do but to follow their new host. Curiously he also turned his gaze to the woman to inquire as to what to do next.
