Hello and welcome to Be Burtonesque, your one and only Tim Burton and Johnny Depp Roleplay site.

Please be sure and read all of the following rules and have fun!

I, Betelgeuse, am the main admin and owner of this site. What I say goes. Knowing this I have also been voted as one of the fairest site owners/admins online. I intend to keep that title. If you ever feel I have treated you unfairly please PM me and I will fix it. If you feel that you can't talk to me about it, feel free to PM our other admin Ichabod Crane or any of our other staff members and they will straighten me out.

Now we all know Betelgeuse is probably the most magical and powerful Tim Burton character. He can teleport, possess others, change shapes, and make things appear. This is why I chose him. I will not abuse this, and I hope you do not abuse your character. Betelgeuse does have one weakness, his name 3 times. However it is unfair to take someone out in one one post. This being said you can not say Betelgeuse's name three times in one post. You must give me a chance to fight back. Same with other characters. You can not kill them at all, but you also can't disable them or send them away in one post. All characters must be given a right to fight back.
Although this is an adult website I will have to ask you to keep your cursing to a minimum. Also make sure to keep your romantic scenes tasteful. This is a roleplay, not a porn site.
If you have a problem or argument post it in the drama sub-board in General Discussion. There are to be no arguments outside the drama board. If there is the post will be moved and members will be dealt with accordingly. If you feel there is an issue, you can always pm staff and they may solve it before an argument even needs to take place.
Staff reserves the right to edit, modify, move, or delete any post.
NO LURKING! Lurkers are not allowed. If you can not dedicate yourself to a character and be active, you should let it be given to someone who can.
There is a 3 sentence minimum when posting in a roleplay.
No Spamming!
No advertising websites or links in the chat or in threads. This includes talking about starting a new website, joining another website, or another website you own. (Obvious exceptions include your personal profiles such as Myspace)
No Godmodding! This means you can not play as another character. You can not say what another character thinks, says, or does. You can only act for yourself.
Please speak English.
READ ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPDATES!
Choose your character wisely. Once you choose your character, you will not be able to delete them.
Use common sense. Don't do things that will obviously piss other people off. Please use your brain. You have it for a reason.
DUE TO PROBOARDS REGULATIONS YOU MUST BE 18 TO BE A MEMBER OF THIS SITE. YOU MAY JOIN WHOEVER YOU ARE BUT YOUR PROFILE MUST SAY YOU ARE AT LEAST 18. I DON'T CARE HOW OLD YOU ARE, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. AS LONG AS TO PROBOARDS YOU ARE 18!
The password may be Burton. But then again... maybe not.
You are NOT allowed to post until your character application has been approved by staff.

You are allowed a maximum of 3 characters. The first character may be applied for upon registering. The second character may be applied for when your first character has at least 50 posts. Your third character may be applied for once your second character has at least 25 posts.
Red is a staffing color. Only staff can use the color red and only when they are staffing! A 2% warning will be administered to anyone who uses red and is not staffing.
You must notify Betelgeuse if you have posted a new plot. All plots must be approved by Betelgeuse before going into effect.
Activity checks will be posted as an announcement every few months. If your character remains dormant or does not reply to the activity checks your character will be taken away and available for someone else to take. If you are unsure about what an activity check is or how to reply to one please visit the FAQ's.
If you are going on vacation you must notify staff so we don't accidentally delete your account or take away your character privileges. To learn more about the rules on vacations and saving characters please visit the following link.

All characters must be from a Tim Burton movie or a Johnny Depp movie. All Tim Burton and Johnny Depp characters are allowed including their counterparts. For example, if your favorite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean and Jack is already taken you may apply for Will, Elizabeth, Barbossa, ect.
Once you achieve Dreamer status or have 5 stars PM me, Betelgeuse, to get the password to the Members ONLY section.
Cameo Roles are NOT accepted. For example: If Johnny Depp had a 5 minute walk on role, that movie is not accepted.
If a character application is denied staff will reply with a reason for it's denial. The post will remain in the registration board for one week. If the application is not fixed it will be permanently denied and moved to the graveyard for dead posts. That character will then be available for someone else to apply for. You can always request your character again.
Once your application is approved a staff member will change your name. You will still need to sign in with the username you created upon registration, but your name will show as your character's name to all members. DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF!
Once your character has been given to you, YOU CAN NOT CHANGE IT. You must ask Betelgeuse if you want a change in your character name. Odds are the answer will be no. Your name is your character. No frills or anything. You can not change your character name.
DO NOT STEAL PLOTS. I'm serious. Not only does it affect me for having to fix it. But it affects the other characters in your movie and the person who created the plot. Be original. There will be no more pregnancies that weren't in the movie. No more cross-movie sex scenes. None of that unless approved by Betelgeuse..
No harassing other members.
You must act as if you are your character when roleplaying. This being said you cannot add powers to a character that does not originally have them. For example, if you choose to be Sally the Rag Doll you can not shoot stars out of your fingers because your character simply can not do that.
Your character only knows what your character would know in a movie. Also your character may learn new things if they are informed in a roleplay. For example, if you sign up as Lydia, you know me and Juno. But you do not know Jack Skellington. Therefore, Jack Skellington will have to "meet" you in a roleplay. Also since you do not know anything that your character doesn't know you can't act as if you do unless you are plotted with it or another character tells you said information. For example, if you are Kim from Edward Scissorhands you do not know that Sweeney Todd kills people and Mrs. Lovett makes them into pies. However, if you "meet" Sweeney Todd or Mrs. Lovett in a roleplay and they voluntarily give your character this information, you know.
Your character must be played as if Tim Burton wrote them. For example if you sign up as the Joker... please play as Jack Nicholson, not Ledger. If you sign up as Alice from the new movie, don't go by the book.
There is a warning bar located on every members information. Once your warning bar is full you will be permanently banned. Although, it will take a lot to fill your bar we will ban members who deserve it.

Feel free to send the admins and moderators personal messages. They love to help and answer questions.
YOU CANNOT KILL OTHER CHARACTERS! Even if you are a murderer you can not kill another member so they cease to exist. You may think about it but you may not do it. If you need to kill someone for a roleplay just make up an unnamed character that cannot be applied for. (Example: A stranger on the street, The guy at the grocery store.)
Try to keep the personal lives of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp out of conversation. Mainly their kids. This isn't because of me, but Johnny himself requested his children be out of the media limelight. It's not your business anyways.
Had you read the rules you would know the real password is RegTim. The password is case sensitive.
Make sure to title your threads. If you would like to roleplay with only a certain person make sure you put their name in (parenthesis.) For example, if you want to roleplay with Jack Sparrow and Jack Skellington you would put the name of your thread (Jack Sparrow, Jack Skellington.) There is no limit to the amount of characters put in your parenthesis.
If you want a roleplay and don't mind who joins it or would like everyone to have a chance to play put open in (parenthesis.) For example you would put your thread title (Open).
