001; Girlhood
A place of unspoilt beaches and clear water. Somewhere where a woman can backtrack her earliest memories and smile, sunkissed Florida. Jillian began her life in this sprawling city of palm trees, raised up alongside her younger sister, Nan, under the roof of her loving parents. She grew to be an astute, bright, and beautiful young woman. Bidding her sayonaras' to her family, Jill left for college to began the path to what she intended to be a blossoming career; teaching. It was there destine shuffled its' card deck and dealt her a hand, where she met future aerospace monarch and pre-American hero, Spencer Armacost.
002; A condition
Fast forward some years, and re-introduce yourself to Mrs Jillian Armacost. Settled and in love, but far from content. Her parents had suffered an abrupt death, and while Nan's strong attitude and nature dealt her through, by God she tried, but Jill just couldn't find that strength for herself. The horrors started on one night, when she was sleeping. At first, nothing .. but then, there would be someone she knew. Whether it was someone she barely knew or someone she held dear, it didn't waver. There they would be, and there they would be dead. They didn't stop there. It carried on, torturing Jillian inside her head to the point where she had to be hospitalized. Mental imperfections. Demons, raising their grinning heads at death's cruel hand, and feasting on Jill's sanctity. Thank God for Spencer. He was an immovable force that she leant on the entire time, and it eventually got her through. Treatment finished and Jill finally felt at peace, she could sleep smoothly through the night at last. Life went on from there. Spencer and Jill could finally be a happy married couple and Nan could come over and just laugh with her sister. Teaching second grade became a rewarding experience too, her students fun and eager. There were clear blue skies ahead, at last.
003; Two minutes
A hand to the window glass and smoke errupting into the sky, there it went. The Orbiter, shooting into the clouds and taking the man that wore her ring's kin into the depths of space along with it. Spencer wasn't just an astronaut, he was a flyer. The sky was his playground, and he had played with every toy up there. The being without him for a little while she could bear, but it was just the night before when they would be enjoying the last of each other's company that she dreaded. Being in his arms one day and watching out the window the next, she hated that part. Who would have known that a quick look at the television could have been so effective, Spencer and his fellow commander and friend, Alex, plastered on the afternoon news. God, all sorts went through her head at that moment. Meeting with Natalie, Alex's wife and Jill's friend, too was unbearable. Both wives dreading for their loved ones, how they clung to each other with dear hopes. Two minutes, they lost contact for two minutes. They were all alone, as Natalie had said, and she was right. NASA had let him down, and if she lost Spencer and Natalie lost Alex they were entirely to blame, no matter how much Sherman Reese and the rest of NASA tried to flower it. Luckily, it didn't come to that, on Jillian's half anyway. Spencer was young and fit, he pulled through after a spell of unconciousness. Thank christ. Alex, on the other hand ..
004; New York
He hated New York. Noisy, gluttonous financial gain and way too many people. But if that was what he wanted, then Jillian would oblige. Even if it meant leaving behind their friends, her job, Nan .. he deserved that much, and the relief of still having him around after the incident was still raw. She would have probably agreed to anything. Despite being amoungst swarms of city folk, Jill always felt so desolate. Spencer fit right in, getting cosy in his little rut between newly-befriended boss Jackson and the Aerospace firm he was now the executive of, MacLaren. Jackson's wife, Shelley, was chatty enough and Jill even took a liking to her, but still, this place was no Florida. Or what she remembered Florida being like. Sand, sea, friends and family, that's how it used to be. Now whenever Jillian remembered her beloved hometown, she just remembered the ghosts. Poor Natalie, she knew Alex's funeral would be hard on her .. but never enough to commit suicide. A scream, and then a loud crackling, sizzling. The vacant, white look on her face as sparks flew out around her - that would be something carved into the stone of Jill's mind. The fuel to the fire. It would be the thing that gave Jill's condition its' first jolt back to life. It was Natalie's last words that played on Jill's mind, wondering what she could have meant; He's hiding inside me.
005; Two Heartbeats
It had been like going to bed with a wild animal. How he dug his fingers into her hair, how he'd held her wrists and just wouldn't stop, no matter how many times she called out. So untamed. That ringing, that static whine - everywhere. After a spell of sleep that same night, Jill had woken up sore. Like she had been thrown about like a rag doll. Too much to drink, had been Spencer's excuse after his apology. That night he had put something there, or rather somethings. Two things, with beating hearts. Inside Jill. It didn't take long too tell him, even through her worries and doubts. It made her think about her condition, how awful it would be if the pregnancy were to bring all that back. It wasn't exactly convienient, Natalie and Alex's death so raw still. Getting pregnant so quickly after just seemed seem right, she hadn't planned it. They'd not planned or talked about having children. But it was going to be okay, Spencer was happy. They were going to be parents.
006; Late Nights
Jackson MacLaren was the foreman of MacLaren, a hugely successful and flourishing Aerospace firm, and Spencer was his poster child. The famed and well-known All-American Hero, survived the death-dealing explosion of the Orbiter at 125 miles above the earth's surface - that certainly helped bring the big bucks in and Jackson was probably well aware of that. The firm had so much money they could sit on it. Behind all that, there was the Fighter - or as much as Spencer and his team of engineers had put together. God knows how many tons of cast iron, jet-propelled aircraft with so much mechanic who-haa Jill couldn't begin to try and understand. Something that Jackson said actually got through, the signal. Silent to human ears and deadly to enemy aircrafts. The enterprise was beginning to get demanding, pulling Spencer in at all hours and robbing Jill of any time she had with him. But there was something Jillian didn't know, something Spencer was keeping from her. The to-ing and fro-ing was becomming more frequent, and aided by some of the unlovely stories of wandering husbands at the support group .. Jillian began to worry. Her husband's thoughts were far from MacLaren where he truly was, sojourning in the company of a woman. Covered head-to-toe in shining black and lipsticked lips ever-curled to smirk. A cat woman. Most nights Jillian would now spend alone while she tried to believe Spencer was working away to provide for her and their unborn twins. It wasn't until they were out to dinner with new friends Lola and Amy, that Jill finally met this woman. The things she said, but the thing that scorned her the most was this claim of a kiss. Spencer denied everything, but then again he would. Jillian battled with herself, unknowing of what to believe. But at last she decided that this Catwoman was nuts and just needed to be not thought about. Which was hard, and the more it crept into her mind every day the more strain it put on Jill's shoulders. Would their twins be born into lies?
